Mass on the Grass at Camp Gravatt

A Sunday service, an outdoor baptism, and a Mother's Day picnic — all in one beautiful place.

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church is leaving campus for something a little different.

We are gathering at Gravatt Camp and Conference Center — just twenty minutes from North Augusta in the pines of Aiken County — for an outdoor worship service, a potluck picnic, and one of the most meaningful baptisms we have ever had the joy of celebrating.

The service begins at 10:00 a.m. at Gravatt's outdoor chapel. Our praise band will lead music, and the service will flow directly into the main event of the morning: the baptism of one of our own in the waters of Gravatt's pond. She has long dreamed of being baptized outdoors, in living water, the way Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River. We could not be more honored to make that dream a reality.

The picnic follows the service on the grounds of the summer camp. We ask everyone to bring a dish to share. Gravatt's beautiful property — tall pines, open lawn, and the pond at the center of it all — will do the rest.

The date is Mother's Day, and we think that is exactly right. There is no better way to celebrate the women who have given us life — and the community that sustains it — than gathered together outdoors, around a table, near the water.

Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member of St. Bartholomew's to join us. Bring your family, bring a friend, bring a dish.
