CMONA Sunday — May 17, 2026

Each spring, St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church sets aside a Sunday to celebrate our partnership with Community Ministry of North Augusta (CMONA) — one of the most vital and enduring ministries in our community.

About Community Ministry of North Augusta

CMONA is a Christian non-profit organization that has been serving neighbors in the North Augusta, Belvedere, and Clearwater communities for over 40 years. Supported by 27 area churches, CMONA provides emergency assistance to individuals and families facing homelessness, hunger, poverty, and hardship. Its services include a food pantry, utility and transportation assistance, medicine stipends, and a thrift store that offers low-cost goods to the public while generating funding for the ministry's work.

In 2025, CMONA fed 3,323 individuals from 1,318 families, distributed 3,477 bags of food and personal care items, and paid over $587,000 in past-due utility bills. That work is made possible by congregations like ours — and by the generosity of individuals who give their time, treasure, and abundance.

Join Us on May 17

On Sunday, May 17, we welcome Tammy Butler, Executive Director of Community Ministry of North Augusta, who will speak to our congregation about the ministry's work and the difference our partnership makes. A special collection for CMONA will be received at the 10:00 a.m. service.

St. Bart's is represented on the CMONA board by Neil Crossley (who also serves as CMONA's Board Treasurer) and Zeny Vo. They are happy to answer any questions you may have about the ministry.

How to Participate

Peanut butter and jelly. Beginning April 27, a collection basket will be in the narthex each Sunday. We invite every family to bring at least one jar of peanut butter or jelly before May 17. Let us fill it to the brim.

A financial gift. A special collection will be received on May 17. You may also give online at cmona.org/donate — please include St. Bartholomew's in the memo field.

Your time. CMONA welcomes volunteers for a wide range of roles, from working in the food pantry and interviewing clients to staffing the thrift store and picking up donations. Contact Bacilia Hernandez at cmonaoffice@gmail.com to learn more.

Donate goods. CMONA accepts gently used clothing, furniture, and household items at its thrift store, located at 531 Belvedere Clearwater Road, North Augusta. Donation hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
