Financing the Mission

Financing the Mission

The following purpose statement guides the actions of the Stewardship Committee:

Stewardship Committee

The purpose of the St. Bartholomew’s Stewardship Committee is to educate the congregation in the Biblical principles of whole life stewardship (Time, Talent and Treasure) and not merely the raising of money to meet budgets. The committee seeks to reinforce that Christian stewards are managers of the gifts God has entrusted to them.

Responsibilities:

  • Committee members seek to further their personal understanding of the Biblical basis of stewardship in order to better serve the congregation.
  • The committee plans a year-round stewardship program in support of the church mission statement.
  • Works to help members understand how the budget seeks to support the "mission statement" for the church.
  • Analyze present and past trends in giving so it can advise the Vestry and church members on stewardship matters.
  • Promote the stewardship of accumulated resources through wills and bequests and provide guidelines for receiving major gifts such as stocks.

If you are interested in joining this committee please contact the church office or Tom Thirkell (Committee Chair).

Pledge cards can be found on the Vestry bulletin board in the parish hall or you can download a current card online. If you are new to St. Bartholomew's or are a member who has not yet pledged for 2011 please consider filling out a card. New pledges are ALWAYS welcome regardless of the time of year! Pledges to the operating fund cover daily church operations and our ministries. The building fund goes to pay our monthly mortgage payment on our wonderful church facility.
