What to Expect
We are delighted that you are visiting our web site. We hope you will soon visit our church. We are a friendly, growing dynamic Christian community rooted in the Anglican tradition located in beautiful North Augusta, South Carolina. What's important is not so much our denominational affiliation, but that we are seeking to follow Jesus Christ with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength as we surrender our lives to His will and purposes daily.
When you arrive at church, you will be greeted by a greeter. As you enter the church, the usher will give you a bulletin that gives you an overview of the Sunday morning worship and will direct you to the various readings in the Book of Common Prayer and to hymns in the Hymnal. The announcement sheet that you receive will give you an overview of upcoming activities in the church.
There are three services offered at St. Bartholomew's: 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11:30 AM with Sunday School at 10:45 A.M.
The 8:00 AM service is quiet, reverent and is perfect for those who have grown up in the Anglican tradition and who prefer a quieter, more contemplative approach to worship. This service includes Holy Communion and Holy Eucharist Rite I. This is a great service for the golfer in the family because you can still make your 9:30 AM tee time. The dress for this service is casual business to coat and tie for the men with slacks and dresses for the ladies. No nursery is provided for this service.
The 9:30 AM service is traditional worship service features organ, choir and traditional hymnody and is ideal for those who like traditional worship. This service includes a sermon, Holy Communion and follows Rite II. The dress for this service is casual business to coat and tie for the men with slacks and dresses for the ladies. A nursery is provided for this service. Sunday School follows this service along with a nursery for those 3 and younger.
The 11:30 AM service is the upbeat worship service with contemporary music led by "Simple Gifts" our contemporary band. This service is ideal for those coming from worship traditions outside the Episcopal Church. This service includes a sermon, Holy Communion and follows Rite II. Everthing is presented on our overhead projection system. The dress for this service is very casual: jeans, bermuda shorts in the summer and can include business casual. We just want you to enjoy yourself and see the great worship experience you can have a St. Bartholomew's. There is a nursery provided for this service.
